HushDisk data safety and liability notice

Keep an independent, verified backup of important files and store your passwords safely. Encryption does not replace a backup. Before enabling writes, repairing a filesystem, changing a password or converting a container, make a backup and check that you can restore it. Unmount or lock the container before copying it as a backup.

HushDisk can contain defects. Files may be lost, corrupted or become inaccessible, including during ordinary use, an interrupted operation, a full disk, hardware failure or an operating-system failure. Check and Repair may discard damaged files and cannot guarantee recovery. Do not keep the only copy of important data in a container.

We cannot recover a forgotten password. Losing the password or a required custom system key can permanently prevent access, even if the container itself is intact. Test access to your backups before deleting originals or changing devices.

Deletion may be immediate and bypass Trash, including on HushDisk's writable macOS mounts. Ordinary deletion is not guaranteed secure erasure. Uninstalling the Android app or clearing its storage deletes the containers it keeps privately; export encrypted backups first. Apps that receive decrypted files may retain copies after HushDisk locks the container.

WARRANTY AND LIABILITY: Subject to applicable law and any written agreement that applies to you, HushDisk is provided "AS IS", without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by applicable law and the applicable software license, the author and contributors are not liable for loss or corruption of data, loss of access, recovery costs or other damages arising from use of HushDisk, even if advised of the possibility of such damage. The full warranty and liability terms for HushDisk's Apache-licensed code are in sections 7 and 8 of the Apache License 2.0 supplied with the app.

This notice does not exclude or limit liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, including any applicable protection for fraud, deliberate misconduct or gross negligence. Your mandatory consumer rights remain in force. This notice explains risks and existing license terms; it does not amend the software licenses or restrict rights granted by them. Third-party components retain their own terms.
